Stoke Mandeville Hospital –
Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust

Working in partnership with Hunters Architects, Receptek created a safe and flexible range of furniture for families visiting the Children’s Emergency Department at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. Pathoban was partnered with Nursebase desk systems and bespoke seating, to create a welcoming and friendly environment. A combination of curved and straight Pathoban screens were installed to follow the different desk spaces and observation stations in the facility.

Designers Comment

“The slimline profile of Pathoban helped to create a softer aesthetic for staff to connect with patients and their families without compromising on security and infection control, while maintaining views of the family-friendly artwork.”

Receptek proposed the use of recycled glass for the worktops on the main reception desk. The net result is stunning with what appears and feels like stone yet without the typical joining issues associated with stone. It was a real challenge to maintain the overall design intent and balance the budget. But we did it.
